A08 – Regulation of the platelet lipidome and its implications in thrombo-inflammation

This project will focus on regulation of the platelet lipidome. We will characterise the molecular mechanisms governing platelet lipid metabolism and its functional consequences on thrombo-inflammation, decipher the dynamic changes in the platelet lipidome under pathophysiological conditions, and its relevance for atheroprogression and organ ischaemia. We will combine transgenic hyperlipidaemic mouse models, high-resolution platelet imaging, and lipidomics approaches to disclose the key players governing platelet lipid metabolism. Besides, novel therapeutic targets like the chemokine receptor CXCR7 will be identified and validated in experimental studies.
